A western town of wooden houses, a saloon, a church and a doctor's office strung along a street by the railway. Townspeople walk between them.

How it plays

Keep the trains coming

The railway sends people. You decide where they live, where they work and whether the town is worth stopping for.

The build catalogue open over the town: houses, a hotel, a saloon, a store, a forge, a bank, a sheriff, a doctor and a church.
1

Raise a town around the depot

Lay streets, put up houses, open a store, a saloon, a forge. Every family wants a roof, a job and somewhere to spend their pay.

A train has arrived. A summary card reads Express Brings 18 New Faces, all housed.
2

The train is in

Train after train pulls in, and the trains keep getting fuller. House everyone, or they sleep in the street and go home.

Mr. Hale's report on Dust Creek: bars for homes, work, civic, trade and room, and the risks before the next train.

Mr. Hale is watching

The railway's superintendent judges the town at every stop. Let him down three trains running and the next one is the last.

The line select screen with eight maps: Dust Creek, Canyon Mouth, Boot Hill, Two Rivers, The Flats, Lone Mesa, North Pass and Ironwood.

Eight lines

From Dust Creek to Ironwood, every map is open from the start. Three stars to earn on each, and a Game Center leaderboard for every line.

The end of a run: 18 trains, one star, and a short farewell letter from Mr. Hale.

The run ends

Your score is the trains you held off. Mr. Hale writes one last letter about the town you built, and you can watch it grow back from the first day.

Questions and answers

What ends a run?

Mr. Hale, the railway's superintendent, reviews the town every time a train comes in. Fail three reviews in a row and the next train is the last one. Your score is the number of trains you kept coming.

What does Mr. Hale judge?

Homes, work, shops, a sheriff, a doctor and a church within reach, and whether the train's passengers found room. Tap the reputation bar at the top to see each of them and what is holding the town back.

My shops are losing customers.

Look for red streets. Every street carries only so many people and wagons, and a jammed one stops trade beyond it. Upgrade the red tiles from mud to dirt to stone, or open a second way round. People will also only walk so far to spend their money, so a shop at the far end of town gets few of them.

Someone is sleeping in the street.

They arrived and found no bed. They wait a couple of days and then leave, and leaving costs you. Houses hold families; a hotel takes anyone at a pinch.

How do I pause or speed up?

The pause, play and fast buttons sit at the top right, beside the countdown to the next train.

Can I see the first-days guide again?

Yes. Open Settings from the main menu and turn on First-days guide. It starts again with your next town.

Is there anything to buy inside the game?

No. The game is bought once, at one price. There are no ads and no purchases inside it, and all eight lines are open from the start.

Where are my saves?

The game keeps one run at a time, saved on your iPhone, and picks it up where you left it. Your best result and stars on each line are stored the same way. Deleting the app deletes them.

Which iPhones does it run on?

Any iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The game plays in landscape and needs no internet connection. Game Center is optional.
